A scientific Assessment
of Intercultural competence
The Intercultural Development Inventory ® (IDI) is a theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. It measures your ability to understand different cultural views and adapt behaviour.
If you have strong intercultural competence, you can understand different cultural views.
You can also change your behaviour to be more successful in different situations.

The challenge
Some people think you automatically get intercultural competence from living in another country.
Unfortunately, that isn't true.
Otherwise, everyone who has ever moved to a new country would be successful.
Like all soft skills, intercultural competence requires work to develop.

Why the IDI?
If you want to improve your intercultural competence, you need two things:
-
Knowledge about your current ability
-
A plan to improve it
The IDI gives you both.
The IDI is a theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. It measures your ability to understand different cultural views and adapt behaviour.
What you get
The IDI is an online questionnaire that takes 15–20 minutes to complete. It can be taken in 18 different languages.
Everyone who takes the IDI through Hiyaku Coaching gets a debrief with a licensed IDI Qualified Administrator (QA).
You also receive a customized Intercultural Development Plan ® (IDP) in the debrief. With the IDP, you can further develop your intercultural competence.
John McGraw of Hiyaku Coaching has obtained a license to use the IDI from IDI, LLC.
